The Importance of Physical Exercise
Each of us has a body made of muscles, blood, bones, organs and various other living tissues. When any of these things are injured or do not function well, we face certain problems in our body. Nobody likes to be ill. Therefore, it is important that we keep our body healthy and fit by exercising regularly.
Exercising is one way of keeping our body healthy. If we do not exercise then our muscles become weaker and we find several difficulties in doing regular things. In addition, the bones can become weaker and thus, injure or break easily.
A person can perform several types of exercises. We may play different sports like cricket, football, badminton, basketball or whatever games that we prefer. Jogging, walking, swimming, climbing a mountain are another forms of good exercise. Aged people prefer using less physical or mental effort or energy. They prefer doing exercises like Yoga or an unhurried walk in a slow relaxed manner in the park. For the fit young people, there are aerobics, rock-climbing and other physically challenging activities.
Walking is the most natural exercise known by man. It helps Calf muscles to pump the blood to the heart with all force. This leads to heart exercise, increase in the level of fresh oxygen in the body and better blood circulation. Thus, it reduces the dangers of a heart attack. Walking also decreases tiredness. Above all, walking helps the body to acquire its proper shape. Many studies have shown mental benefits of walking. Moreover, walking daily reduces worries, stiffness of the body and improves one’s temper.
We exercise to keep the body healthy. However, some end up injuring themselves. It is good to jog or walk for a few kilometres but it is not advisable to jog until we are completely exhausted. In addition, there are people who become intensely addicted to their exercise routine. They become unhappy when they are unable to exercise or when they lose to someone in a competition.
Exercise is important. Although exercise may not result in a weak body, too much exercise may result in injury. Neither extreme are good. It is up to us to be sensible while exercising.
