The School watchman
Mr. Ram is our school watchman. All the students call him Ramu Kaka affectionately. Ramu Kaka is old. He is a Nepali Gurkha and came to India when he was just sixteen years old. He has small piercing eyes which twinkle when he talks and a very smiley face.
Ramu Kaka has been serving our school for thirty years. Thousands of students walk past the gates; yet, he knows each of us by face. He is alert and won’t let strangers past the gate. Vendors must face his wrath.
One day a boy on a cycle snatched a teacher’s purse. Ramu Kaka burst in to action. He ran fast like the wind and caught up with the boy and brought the purse back. Ramu Kaka may be old but he is strong and fit. At six feet two inches, he towers over all of us and no one messes with him.
