Sabeer Bhatia

A graduate of the California Institute of Technology and a master’s degree holder from Stanford University, Sabeer Bhatia worked for some time at Apple Inc. It was sometime then that he hit upon an idea which revolutionized how the common man would use the internet. He co-founded the first e-mail service on the internet in 1996 and named the company ‘Hotmail Corporation’. This service instantly became a hit in the market. Today, Hotmail is still the largest internet web-based email provider.

His subsequent ventures include Arzoo.com which is an e-commerce company and Sabsebolo.com, a web-based teleconferencing system. Bhatia’s achievements have been widely recognized the world over and that he was one among those who brought the internet to our doorstep is a matter of pride for us Indians. Time magazine named him as one of the “People to Watch” persons in International Business for 2002.
