The First Wedding I Ever Attended
Weddings are always special and so much fun. The first wedding I attended was my Uncle’s wedding in Delhi. Our house was regally decorated with lights and flowers. While ladies played the drums, the children downed sweets, played hide and seek, and of course, danced!
We left for the venue in a grand procession. I dressed like Uncle, in a Churidar, Sherwani with a colorful turban and sat on a decorated horse, feeling like a prince! All relatives and friends danced to the music as the photographers clicked away. We were welcomed warmly at the bride’s house and the ceremonies began. The bride looked resplendent in her attire, a true princess! She exchanged the garlands with the groom and they both sat around a fire, with the priest chanting the mantras. Alongside, a lavish feast had been laid out.
As the ceremonies got over, we discovered that my Uncle’s shoes had been stolen by the bride’s sisters! We recovered them by paying a fee and my shoes never left my feet thereafter! Blessings were sought from all elders as we departed in a decorated car. I still cherish that evening very fondly.
